L4L Flexible Furniture- Does this mean FREEDOM?

Some interesting coffee discussions about the flexibility of classroom furniture when using Laptops! It is always a problem that the classroom furniture design/layout:

  • is usually set by the ‘home class’ teacher, or other influence- change it and they will come… and yell at you!
  • can dictate the teaching approach (epistemology). Lecture structure and group work approach mmmm?
  • needs to be changed to compliment the lesson
  • computer learning spaces are secured, bolted or cabled down

L4L will: enable teachers, students and ‘computer learning spaces to be flexible:

  • Pod arrangement- group work?
  • Lecture style?
  • Debating, face off? (Jeopardy)
  • Clear tables and chairs to work on the floor?

*Just make sure you put ‘em back the way they were… or you’ll get yelled at.
