L4L – Rules of engagement

STUDENTS and parents will have to sign a “user agreement” that they will not misuse or mistreat the new laptop computers to be rolled out in schools from next term.

But the Rees Government still expects to write off about $10 million on the machines, which are being given first to Year 9 students across the state.

Education Minister Verity Firth said the Government expected no more than 10 per cent of the computers to be lost or damaged.

A charter setting out the responsibilities of ownership of the laptops and use of the internet will be signed by students and parents.
