Canberra 2015 – Day 2

Just a short one today. Yesterday was a MASSIVE day. The kids had a hearty breakfast and the split up to go to different venues including CSIRO Discovery, Museum of Australian Democracy, the National Museum and the Australian Electoral Commission. We came together at lunch in the Parliamentary Rose Gardens and then all went to the Australian War Memorial. The kids loved this. They were taken around in small groups by tour guides and shown the exhibits and also had half an hour access to the D-Zone where there are allowed to dress up and go in helicopters, trenches, submarines etc.

At the end we stayed for the closing ceremony and our Captains, Leah and Cooper got to lay a wreath on behalf of Dudley Public School.

We then went to the High Court of Australia to have dinner overlooking Lake Burley Griffin before heading off to Questacon. Needless to say the kids love it there and enjoyed having every gallery to themselves (something you don’t get on a daytime visit). The giant slide was the biggest hit and it was awesome to see some of the kids conquer their fears.

They didn’t get to bed until 10:00 and had to be up at 5:30 as we are on our way to the snow. It is verrrrrrry quiet on the bus. A big day of snow fun ahead.
